New Robots, New League: B-Human Wins the RoboCup German Open in the Humanoid Soccer League

B-Human continues its success story in the newly established Humanoid Soccer League: The joint team from the University of Bremen and the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) claimed first at the RoboCup German Open in Cologne.

Work Studies as the Key to Democratic Education

According to Dr. Eva Anslinger from the University of Bremen, the subject work studies can play a key role in democracy education in schools. "It makes democratic participation tangible in realistic learning situations." This subject will be the focus of the annual GATWU conference in Bremen.

Marine Conservation on the High Seas

The coming into force of the UN High Seas Treaty in January raises many questions. One particularly pressing issue is where protected areas should be established by 2030. Researchers from the universities of Oldenburg and Bremen are jointly investigating this in the AGELESS project.

How is carbon metabolized and processed in different ecosystems? For a study published in the journal Communications Earth & Environment, researchers led by first author Joely Maak from MARUM at the University of Bremen tracked the carbon cycle in a specific marine ecosystem.

Transfer Award 2026: Apply by May 31

For the second time, the University of Bremen will honor exceptional transfer activities with its Transfer Award. The award is endowed with 2,000 euros. This year, the Sustainability Transfer Award will also be presented for the first time, which is endowed with 1,000 euros.

How a Mathematical Trick Makes Index Funds More Accurate: Study from Bremen Published in Top Journal

Four scientists from Bremen have developed a method that significantly improves the accuracy of index funds without increasing costs. Their study has been published in the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR) – one of the most renowned journals in the field of economics worldwide.

High Level of Third-Party Funding

A great strength of the University of Bremen is its considerable success in the acquisition of third-party funds, both in individual as well as in collaborative research. The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the largest provider of third-party finance: Besides the MARUM Cluster of Excellence, the University of Bremen is currently involved in no less than seven Collaborative Research Centers, as well as a number of research groups and priority programs.

Strategic Promotion of Talent

The targeted promotion of young talent, unlocking potential, and early independence are among the guiding principles of the University of Bremen. We offer intensive support to young academics in six DFG research training groups, numerous junior research groups and also through doctoral programs offered in cooperation with non-university research institutions.
